7043 Portable Tritium Monitor In Air Monitor
This easy-to-use monitor is a rugged, portable instrument with all the latest technologies. Adding this monitor to the collection of standard portable devices currently used for health physical monitoring could improve overall tritium monitoring capabilities. Gamma background compensation is critical in tritium measurements because the ImR/Hr of the gamma field will produce 500 times the ionization produced by 1 μCi/m3 tritium. Tyne designed a 4-chamber cruciform (250 ml each) handheld tritium in air monitor, each chamber connected to an ultra-sensitive electrometer amplifier and filter. All signals pass through an ADC converter, which is calculated by a microprocessor and displays the tritium value. To cover a high range of tritium, a separate small ion chamber is used. Measurements such as flow from solid state flowmeters and chamber temperature are monitored by a microprocessor.
